"The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt ~ the traditional casks soften and add character, whilst the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavour."

40% ABV, 750 ml

The 12 year-old expression is a fine example of how the distinctively crisp, citrus character of Aberlour’s raw spirit is deftly softened by double cask maturation. Traditional oak and seasoned Sherry butts are both used to great effect, as the mellowed spirits within are combined to deliver a subtly balanced flavour.

46% ABV, 750 ml, partly finished in Japanese Mizunara Oak

"This one uses mizunara oak for maturation along with sherry and bourbon casks. Smol dering sandalwood, orange peel, and overall citrusy aromas on the nose. Lush on the palate with pleasant soapiness that yields to manuka honey, red currants, and lime. The finish is mid-length, with similar flavors cloaked in smoldering embers. Great flavors that are a bit stifled—perhaps too much emphasis on barrel variation as the flavor integration becomes a bit lost and overlooked." Whiskey Advocate 92 Points
