The Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt (2024 Tsukuriwake Edition) is a limited-release single malt Japanese whisky that celebrates the House of Suntory's 100th anniversary. This expression is part of the Tsukuriwake Series, which emphasizes diversity in craftsmanship through meticulous blending and the use of varied ingredients, including peated malt. Aged for 18 years at the renowned Hakushu Distillery, also known as the "Mountain Forest Distillery," this whisky combines the clean, crisp character of its natural environment with complex peated notes.
Tasting notes highlight a luminous gold color and a vibrant nose of sage, ripe green apple, and pineapple. The palate features a refined balance of clean smoke, herbs, grapefruit, and acacia honey, leading to a long, persistent finish with fresh citrus and lingering smoke. Its elegant and smoky character makes it a standout among peated whiskies.
