The oldest house in Bas Armagnac, the Dartigalongue family began to distill in 1813. In 1838, Pascal Dartigalongue founded the first Maison d'Armagnac in Nogaro, the heart of the Bas Armagnac region. In 1870 son Joseph acquired a large vineyard in Salles d'Armagnac near Nogaro.
The Dartigalongue Vintage 1944 80-Year-Old Bas Armagnac is an exceptional spirit that showcases the rich heritage of the Bas-Armagnac region. Aged for over eight decades, it offers a remarkable depth of flavor, with complex layers that have evolved throughout its long maturation process. The armagnac reveals a delicate yet robust profile, with notes of dried fruits, such as figs and apricots, intertwined with hints of oak, leather, and spices, including cinnamon and clove. The finish is long, with a pleasingly smooth, almost velvety texture, underscored by a subtle smokiness and a touch of sweetness, creating a well-balanced and refined experience
This vintage is a rare find, offering a taste of history and craftsmanship that can only come from such prolonged aging. It's a true collector's item for Armagnac enthusiasts and a testament to the Dartigalongue family's expertise in producing some of the finest Armagnacs from the region.
