The Château de Breuil 8-Year-Old Calvados Sauternes Cask Finish is a luxurious and innovative expression of Normandy’s iconic apple brandy. This unique Calvados showcases the artistry of Château de Breuil by marrying the rich, orchard-fruit character of aged Calvados with the decadent influence of Sauternes wine casks.
After maturing for 8 years in traditional oak barrels, this Calvados undergoes an additional finishing period in casks previously used to age Sauternes, the famed sweet wine from Bordeaux. The result is a beautifully layered spirit with enhanced complexity and richness.
On the nose, it opens with inviting aromas of baked apple, pear, and quince, interwoven with notes of honey, dried apricots, and a touch of citrus zest. The Sauternes influence adds nuances of candied fruits, vanilla, and subtle floral undertones.
The palate is velvety and harmonious, with flavors of caramelized apple, spiced pear, and a delicate nuttiness. The Sauternes cask imparts a luscious sweetness and depth, with hints of honeyed stone fruit and a creamy texture that enhances the spirit's natural elegance.
