The Kavalan distillery is the first whisky distillery in Taiwan. Kavalan is the name of the earliest tribe that inhabited Yilan, represents sincerity, honesty, and the spirit of step-by-step cultivation. Kavalan distillery continues the tradition of passionate commitment to create their whisky. The first bottle of Kavalan was released in December 2008 and now it is their best-selling expression. There is also an incredible visitor center at the distillery. More than one million visitors come to the distillery per year. In 2011 the Whisky Magazine has named Kavalan distillery, the “Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year”.
Kavalan "Concertmaster" Port Cask Finish Single Malt Taiwanese Whisky is first matured in specially selected American oak casks and then finished in ruby, tawny and vintage Port wine casks. The resulting spirit is smooth with creamy richness and layers of flavors of tropical fruit, dark berries, vanilla, sweet tobacco and candy floss. The nose is carried over to the rich bodied palate with natural sweetness and added complexity of almond, gummy bear, candy and mint.
