PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Il Bruciato 2023 delivers an impressive combination of ripe dark fruit and elegant structure within a modern Tuscan Bordeaux-blend style. It’s immediately appealing for its generous fruit and suppleness, yet retains enough mineral grip and tannic backbone to reward short- to mid-term aging.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Situated within the Bolgheri DOC on Tuscany’s coast, the Guado al Tasso estate boasts gravel-ly soils with maritime influence—a landscape ripe for Cabernet-based blends. For the 2023 vintage of Il Bruciato, Antinori crafted a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot. After harvest, the grapes underwent controlled fermentation and maceration in stainless steel and barriques, followed by aging (typically around 8 months) in a combination of oak and steel to retain freshness and structure. The vineyard’s proximity to the sea, along with a growing season marked by moderate rainfall and warm summer heat, lent the wine both ripeness and balance.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Deep ruby colour introduces aromas of ripe plum, black cherry and small red berries, mingled with sweet spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, and subtle touches of tobacco and Mediterranean herb.
Palate: Medium-to-full body with a smooth entry of dark fruit—blackcurrant and blueberry—then shifts into cocoa and licorice, interwoven with cedar, fresh tobacco leaf and gentle iron-mineral nuance. The tannins are well integrated, supple and persistent.
Finish: The finish is lengthy and clean, offering black fruit echoes, a slight balsamic lift, soft dried herb notes and a lingering mineral spine that keeps the richness in check.
