Cesari's Pinot Grigio delle Venezie is exactly the kind of wine the appellation was built for — fresh, immediate, and genuinely food-friendly, made entirely from Pinot Grigio grown in the Delle Venezie DOC, a region spanning the historic river Piave area of the Veneto. The alluvial, lighter soils and temperate climate here allow the grapes to ripen fully while still retaining real acidity, freshness, and aromatic complexity, and Cesari's own certified organic farming practices reflect a genuine commitment to letting that natural character come through cleanly.
Grapes are harvested in the late summer, typically between the end of August and the beginning of September, then destemmed and gently pressed before fermenting entirely in stainless steel — a deliberately simple, tank-only approach designed to preserve the wine's bright, unadorned fruit character rather than layering on oak influence.
SAQ's own tasting of the 2024 vintage found "a beautiful freshness in the mouth with its aromas of apple and pear," noting "very little acidity at the back and a very low sugar level for this kind of wine," calling it "a nice surprise." Guinigi Wines' extended tasting of the same vintage found "vibrant aromas of lemon zest, delicate white flowers, honeyed undertones, crisp green apple, and a hint of wet stone" on the nose, the palate "light-bodied with mouthwatering acidity, offering bright, clean flavors of citrus and ripe pear," closing "satisfying and refreshing" with "a lingering impression of purity and zest." A separate retailer's tasting described the wine as "comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc," with "notes of pear, apple, and citrus, finishing with a clean mineral edge," alongside "lemon, white peach, and a touch of almond." This is genuinely fresh, clean, easy-drinking Pinot Grigio — an honest, well-made expression of the variety at its most straightforward and appealing.
Cesari 2024 Pinot Grigio delle Venezie is produced by Gerardo Cesari S.p.A., made entirely from Pinot Grigio grapes grown within the Delle Venezie DOC, in the historic river Piave region of the Veneto, Italy. The vineyards sit on alluvial, lighter soils in a temperate climate well suited to preserving both ripeness and freshness, and are certified organic.
