"Mars Komagatake IPA Cask Finish 2023 follows finally makes its return with the new 2023 release. This single malt is a vatting of non and lightly peated whiskies between 3 to 4 years old matured in ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in ex-IPA casks for about 6 months. The IPA casks are used for a craft beer called Ogna supplied by Mars Hombo's brewery Minami Shinshu. The terpenes of the hoppy IPA gives this whisky a fantastically expressive nose full of fresh herbs, pineapple, and bitter citrus. The palate is an explosion of ruby red grapefruit peels, orange candy, pine, and pineapple cake that ends with a beautifully light smokey finish.
Malt whisky distilled & matured at Mars Shinshu Distillery then finished for 1 year in Minami Shinshu Ex-IPA casks."
