Santaleza Reposado Tequila is an artisanal Mexican reposado tequila that pairs traditional Jalisco craftsmanship with a smooth, approachable profile and subtle oak maturity. Aged in used American oak barrels for 4+ months, it bridges the freshness of agave with notes of caramel, citrus, and gentle spice, making it a versatile choice both for sipping neat and in classic tequila cocktails.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Rooted in the highlands of Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico, Santaleza is produced at Bonanza Distillery (NOM 1604)—a facility with deep regional ties and a commitment to traditional methods. This expression is made from 100 % Blue Weber agave, hand-harvested and naturally fermented without accelerators or additives.
After slow roasting the agave in masonry brick ovens, the cooked piñas are crushed (often using a traditional tahona wheel), fermented in open-air vats, and double distilled in copper stills to preserve clarity and character. The reposado then spends a minimum of four months in used American oak barrels, which gently introduce oak spice, vanilla, and softened texture against the agave backbone.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Bright and inviting, with citrus peel, cooked agave, and hints of sage and vanilla from barrel influence. The aroma also features soft caramel and butter undertones that suggest gentle aging.
Palate: Medium-bodied and smooth, the palate delivers sweet agave and citrus zest up front, followed by caramel, gentle oak spice, and buttery richness. Subtle dried fruit and tropical notes emerge briefly, adding warmth without overwhelming.
Finish: Clean and lingering, with a touch of white pepper, salt, and soft mineral edges, framed by a lingering citrus-agave interplay that invites another sip.
